Description
Mini ‘ribbon’ necklace. In 18 carat gold with a Japanese akoya pearl. The pendant is hand-made of shaped sheet gold. For this reason each pendant will differ slightly from that in the photograph although the maximum size will be that indicated.
The pearl is an ‘akoya’ pearl cultivated in seawater in Japanese. The mollusc which produces the pearl is called “Pintada martensiide fucata’ which occasionally produces more than two pearls per harvest. Akoya pearls are recognized for their shine and the perfection of their surface and are the most appreciated by the jeweler. The diameter is from 2 to 10 mm and the period of cultivation is from 8 months to 2 years.
